Who we are
East
meets West...a family tradition!
Randy
Wirth, raised near San Francisco, and Sally Sears, raised
just outside of New York City, met and were married in
Utah just over 34 years ago. Caffe Ibis, at
52 Federal Avenue
in the historic district of downtown Logan, Utah, was spawned
by the couple's desire to provide new organic alternatives
in food and cooking. This organic product venture eventually
led Randy into the Specialty Coffee area.
Over the next
few years as specialty and organic
coffee began to gain popularity with consumers, Randy
began to focus more attention to organic coffee roasting
and production. As our coffee customer base grew, The
Caffe Ibis grew into a larger and more socially responsible
coffee roasting operation. Some issues that have risen
out of the specialty coffee movement are different certifications,
mainly: Organic, Fair Trade, and Shade Grown coffee
certifications. The Caffe Ibis has stayed current with these issues
and have gone to great lengths to become one of the most
environmentally supportive "green businesses" focussing
on sustainability from the coffee farm
to every cup of Caffe Ibis coffee.
The Caffe Ibis
is a roaster of "Triple certified", "Double certified"
and several varities of specialty conventional coffees.
Caffe Ibis
certifications are held through the following organizations:
- Quality
Assurance International - Organic Certification. more
- TransFair
USA - Fair Trade Certification. more
- Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center - Shade Grown Certification.
more
The Caffe
Ibis has a genuine
belief in green, sustainable, environmental, and
socially responsible business practices has lead
them to develop the most complete offering of "Triple
certified" coffees in the country. more
